Plan4Health’s initiative in Bensenville, Illinois is committed to increasing physical activity opportunities for residents — making this village just outside of Chicago a destination for walkers and bicyclists!
Launched in May 2014, the B-Well Bensenville coalition works to connect residents to healthy activities and to integrate planning and public health strategies. During the initial months of B-Well’s Plan4Health initiative, the coalition has conducted a community-wide survey to understand why residents might not be able to walk to school or bike to work. This feedback will be incorporated into Complete Streets priorities and active transportation policies. Designing a bike-to-train guide will complement the proposed policy changes, empowering residents to take advantage of the local trail system and the existing infrastructure today, as the community looks ahead to making all streets accessible and safe for tomorrow.
If you’re in the Chicago area, B-Well Bensenville is hosting its 2nd Annual B-Well Bensenville Walkathon on Saturday, September 12. Join the coalition and community members for activities and fun!
