June 2016 marks the first National Healthy Homes Month, an observance declared by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). National Healthy Homes Month is meant to reinforce the connection between a family’s health their home by educating families about potential health hazards in their homes and empowering them to address these hazards. This year’s theme is “Everyone Deserves a Safe and Healthy Home”. Read this press release from HUD to learn more.

As part of National Healthy Homes Month, today is the first day of the The State of Big Ideas: Moving Environmental Health Outside the Box conference. Approximately 1,200 environmental health and healthy housing professionals are gathering in San Antonio, TX to discuss water quality, healthy housing and communities, and asthma, among other issues.
