On Wednesday, March 8th, planners and public health professionals participated in the second webinar in the Planners4Health Curriculum series. The session focused on the importance of measurement in building healthy communities. The panelists, from Prevention Institute, Georgia Tech School of City & Regional Planning, and Health by Design, brought a range of perspectives and expertise. They discussed data sources traditionally used in the public health and planning fields, as well as the challenges and opportunities of working with data. An important component of this session was identifying emerging metrics for healthy communities and the way that these metrics incorporate equity. Participants also explored broader notions of evidence, including experiential and contextual evidence, and cross-sector approaches.
