Trailnet, the St. Louis Plan4Health coalition, was selected to provide active transportation input and guidance on a project in Chicago. The Active Transportation Alliance is a non-profit organization working to improve conditions for bicycling, walking and transit in the Chicago region. Trailnet will be taking the traffic calming model they developed through Plan4Health and spreading it in Chicago neighborhoods through this collaboration. The demonstrations will help community members understand what traffic calming is and how complete streets initiatives in general can benefit their communities.
The Active Transportation Alliance has also worked with the Plan4Health project in Bensenville, IL and another CDC-funded project – Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH). Read this Plan4Health blog post from April to learn more about the work in Bensenville.
