We know that where we live impacts all aspects of our health. As planners and public health professionals, we want to engage our communities to make changes that will lead to healthier places—and we want to continue to support programs like Plan4Health!
Congress is facing many competing budget requests and we are working to share more information about how important it is to promote health and healthy behaviors through cross-sector community coalitions. Check out APA’s blog post for a recent update on the debate and more information about the appropriations process.
One essential way to educate our leaders and decision-makers is to share our stories. What is your coalition achieving through the Plan4Health opportunity? If you didn’t have Plan4Health support, how would that impact your work? What are some early successes you could share?
Please take action and consider sending a letter to your members of Congress to save funding for community health programs. And, remember to include those “Tweet” size successful moments when you send your letters!
Don’t forget to check out a few of the resources that APA has developed to make sure you are able to connect with your local and federal leaders. APA’s upcoming Policy and Advocacy Conference is another great way to stay engaged with the issues that impact our work, our lives, and our communities.
