Start the New Year off by walking the talk and giving yourself the gift of improved health. Help us walk 1 billion steps by National Public Health Week from Jan. 9 – April 9, or any time in between! It’s not too late to start! Regular physical activity like walking can greatly reduce the risk of conditions such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease and cancer. You can join APHA’s team, or we make it simple to start your own team with a group of friends or co-workers regardless of the number. If you want to go big, we can help you promote a walking event to your entire community. We provide the technology platform, we count the steps and we even give you sample promotional materials you can customize and use to recruit participants. If you are already planning a steps challenge using another platform, we can count your activity toward our goal of 1 billion steps as well. So, take family walks, schedule walking meetings at the office, walk your children to school – we’ll be encouraging healthy habits among our families, friends and communities that will help create the healthiest nation in one generation! We start counting steps on Jan. 9, so register for APHA’s 1 Billion Steps Challenge and join a team today! If we all work together, we really can take 1 billion steps between now and the end of National Public Health Week!
